Empowering Self-Leadership in Gloucestershire Schools

Hello! I’m Emma Bradley, and I’m excited to introduce myself as the Lead Curriculum Manager for Boost, an incredible self-leadership programme that is making a real difference to students in schools across Gloucestershire.

My Background:

I have a wealth of experience as a qualified teacher where I was Head of Sociology. I am also a positive social influencer and Executive Coach which has given me the skills to coach and mentor teenagers and young adults.  I have worked in a number of environments including alternative provisions with the wellbeing of young people central to my work.

I also write a parenting blog and I am regularly featured in the media offering commentary on educational and parenting topics. I joined the Boost team in the summer of 2023 and in September 2024 became the Curriculum Delivery Manager.

As someone who is passionate about education and personal growth, I’m proud to be at the forefront of a programme that equips students with essential life skills—confidence, resilience, and a sense of responsibility. My role involves developing and implementing the curriculum, ensuring that each element of Boost is tailored to help students unlock their potential, succeed in school, and prepare for life’s challenges.

At its core, Boost is about helping young people take ownership of themselves and their personal development. Through interactive workshops, practical activities, and reflection, students learn how to lead themselves first—building the self-awareness and self-management skills that will serve them throughout their lives.

For me, self-leadership is about understanding your strengths, your values, and your goals, and using that awareness to make informed, confident decisions. I’m so excited to be part of a programme that teaches these critical skills at such an important time in students’ lives.

In Boost we explain how we can all manage our emotions, we teach students about emotional regulation, self-care, self-compassion and how to build strong healthy relationships with positive communication.

I can’t wait to be a bigger part of Boost and the positive impact it continues to have on young people in Gloucestershire. Watching students grow into confident, motivated, and self-aware individuals is truly inspiring—and it all starts with the power of self-leadership.
