WELCOME TO THE SCHOOLS BOOST PROGRAMME
The Boost programme is a flexible one day immersive, interactive and inclusive self-leadership programme for young people between the ages of 10 and 18 where older students (usually year groups 11, 12 or 13) are trained to deliver to younger pupils (usually years 6, 7 and 8) in an inspiring and engaging way.
We aim to cultivate a culture of self-leadership among young people and have witnessed profound peer-to-peer coaching of younger pupils by older students who thrive on the responsibility Boost entrusts to them as group leaders. The older students guide the younger on a journey of self-leadership and self-discovery in equal measure as together they build their confidence and resilience to better cope with the challenges of teenage years.
Our approach unites peers through positive constructive action. It increases young people’s sense of self-leadership, self-sufficiency, wellbeing, social-emotional competency and pro-social behaviour through an evidence-based programme that incorporates both face-to-face delivery and online resources.
Boost equips young people with the tools and skills they need to lead from within, giving them the power to overcome daily challenges now and in the future.
Once the programme has been delivered, the older students are sent a Leadership certificate, signed by both Gloucestershire Constabulary’s Chief Constable and Police and Crime Commissioner.
We also have a shorter version of the programme that year 9s can be trained to deliver to year 5’s from your local feeder primary schools.
Boost is not only delivered in schools. It can be delivered in partnership with any organisation working with young people. To find out more please email: boost@gloucestershire.police.uk
